BestCellar Book Bar: A Dream Realized
A local nurse practitioner, Devon Powers is fulfilling a lifelong dream by opening BestCellar Book Bar in Clarence, New York. Partnering with her father Pete, a retired lawyer who shares her love of books, BestCellar offers a unique concept: a bookstore, bar, and coffee shop all rolled into one.
Our story
BestCellar Book Bar is a woman-owned business in Clarence, New York. It has been Devon’s dream to open a bookstore with an added twist of bar and coffee shop. Devon, a Nurse Practitioner, has decided to take the leap and change careers in pursuit of her dream. Pete, Devon’s father, is retiring from the practice of law and shares in his daughter’s dream and love of reading.
The concept of a bookstore bar sprouted a couple years ago when Devon had trouble finding a public indoor space that encompassed both a quite atmosphere and comfortability conducive to reading. After further research, the original concept expanded from an independent bookstore with a relaxing environment for patrons to hangout and read to a combination bookstore and bar, a novelty in Western New York.
With 2800 square feet, BestCellar Book Bar hopes to be a staple in Clarence for years to come. The unique space will provide the opportunity to shop for a new book, read or work on one’s own, or grab a drink with friends. There will also be a semi-private space for bookclubs to reserve for their weekly or monthly meetings. Devon and Pete are excited to enhance the Buffalo reading community and hope to see you in their new store soon!
